Thomas Fork

Thomas Fork Professional Review and Guide

"Thomas Fork, an offshoot drainage of Neffs Canyon, is a steep, wooded, long tour that pays big with expansive views on top. With an elevation gain of 4200 feet over 3.5 miles, Thomas Fork is no small undertaking, despite its proximity to Salt Lake’s suburbs. The tour arguably has better skiing and snowboarding options than Neffs Canyon, such as moderate tree skiing through the rolling drainage bottom and steep chutes on Hobbs Peak. Plus, the head of Thomas Fork is home to the elusive Whipple Couloir entrance. As you ski down the bottom of Neffs Canyon, be very careful on the narrow trail, as it is brushy and challenging to scrub your speed. Also, the canyon is popular with hikers, even in winter, so stay in control on the way down."
