City Creek Canyon Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Just minutes on foot from downtown Salt Lake City and the Utah State Capitol, you’re in a protected nature preserve and national forest with a good chance of seeing deer, elk, and possibly even a mountain lion. City Creek has been Salt Lake City’s primary source of drinking water and power since 1847 when pioneers first arrived in the valley.
City Creek Canyon is a favorite route for joggers, bicyclists,
runners, walkers, and baby strollers because it’s scenic and so conveniently close to downtown. It’s suitable for a lunch-
time workout or an evening picnic. The brushy slopes of
this riparian canyon are great for bird watching, and with
the creek running through the heart of the canyon, larger
wildlife are often nearby."
