Bountiful Bench Road Ride

Bountiful Bench Road Ride Professional Review and Guide

"If you’re going to battle the high-speed, six-lane traffic on Beck Street/U.S. Highway 89 and endure the visual blight of its industrial complexes and oil refineries, then you’d might as well have a good reason.

This route takes you from Salt Lake City’s Liberty Park to a scenic loop on Bountiful’s east bench and back, which is reason enough to ride it. But despite the long, flat, easy miles, you’d better have strong legs or ultra-low gears because Bountiful’s Eagle Ridge Drive is one of the steepest climbs on the Wasatch Front. This ascent alone is the main reason to ride, or avoid, this route. The hill is only 1.8 miles long, so it’s no Alpe d’Huez, but it’s nothing to scoff at either. If you can’t hang, then you’ll suffer."
