Green Valley Toboggan Run Professional Review and Guide
"This fun, close-to-town spin is both aerobically and technically moderate in difficulty. For such a short outing, a surprising array of surfaces are encountered, including pavement, hard-packed dirt double-track, sand, slickrock, and wide, smooth trails. The first half of the 10.5-mile loop winds through St. George—or, more precisely, through Bloomington, Southgate, and Green Valley—on paved residential streets.
After hitting dirt, a steep downhill and an ensuing climb up and through “the Gap” are followed by a dive into a fat-tire playground blazed years ago by motorbikers. More recently the area has been closed to motorized vehicles, in part to protect the endangered bear poppy, which, according to signs posted along the way, is known to occur nowhere in the world outside the St. George area. There’s an abundance of side trails in the vicinity, some of them getting into really tough stuff, so you can make the ride about as technically challenging as you choose. General location: Adjacent to the southwest edge of St. George."
