I love this trail. After the cramped and crowded trails in the Zion canyon, we finally got to go exploring somewhere where we weren't rubbing shoulders with 3/4 of the population of the southwest...and the southeast, and the northwest and the northeast, and the other 4 corners of the earth. Of course, there's a reason people flock to Zion from all over, but...I just need a little more space. Next time, maybe shouldn't go during spring break. But this place, Coalpit wash, no one seems to know about. The views aren't quite so spectacular, but this is a beautiful red, sandy wash, with willows and cottonwoods blowing in the breeze, and a babbling brook. The boys went swimming and we kicked back and did a little birding. And tracks, I've never seen anything like this anywhere. There's a network of tracks, all shapes and sizes, leading to and fro every which way. This is a great place to just linger and let the day slip by.
