Pahvant Range Trail

Pahvant Range Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This moderate-length trail traverses the Pahvant Range between the towns of Elsinore and Kanosh, and it alternately crosses through Fishlake National Forest and private lands. It leaves Elsinore up Albinus Canyon, a gentle gradient on a predominantly graded gravel road. Once on top of the range, the trail swings around to the southwest and the trail standard becomes harder. The trail surface up on the range can be very greasy and impassable when wet, as some large ruts made by previous travelers testify. Navigation can be a bit tricky as well; although most of the forest roads are signed, there are many unmarked tracks.

Special Attractions: Albinus and Kanosh Canyons; Access to a network of 4WD and ATV trails; Excellent for viewing wildlife and fall foliage. High-clearance 4WDs are recommended, though most stock SUVs are acceptable. Expect a rough road surface with rocks larger than 6 inches, but there will be a reasonable driving line available. Patches of mud are possible but can be readily negotiated; sand may be deep and require lower tire pressures. There may be stream crossings up to 12 inches deep, substantial sections of single-lane shelf road, moderate grades, and sections of moderately loose road surface."
