Mytoge Mountain

Mytoge Mountain Professional Review and Guide

"Mytoge Mountain is a Fish Lake classic and is the featured tour of the Fish Lake in the Fall Mountain Bike Festival held annually in September. The laid-back but well-catered event attracts hundreds of fat-tire enthusiasts to the aquamarine waters of Utah’s mountain jewel. Three days of guided tours lead through pristine forests, across stream-cut meadows, and to lofty viewpoints of shimmering lakes with sweeping panoramas of the surrounding plateaus.

Be sure to pack a rod and reel when visiting Fish Lake because trophy-size Mackinaw and rainbow trout lurk in the lake’s frigid, spring-fed waters. When Kit Carson visited Fish Lake in 1847, he wrote in his diary that “Fish were so plentiful that you could walk on the back of their fins to cross the creek and catch hundreds with your bare hands within minutes.” Perhaps fish are not as abundant today, but anglers feverishly cast their lines in hopes of landing that elusive 36-pound lunker, which stands as an all-time record catch. Tread: 15.5 miles of singletrack, and 3.5 miles of doubletrack."
