Nine Mile Canyon

Nine Mile Canyon Professional Review and Guide

"Nine Mile Canyon is considerably longer than its name implies. The creek runs over 40 miles, beginning northeast of Price and emptying into the Green River at the head of Desolation Canyon. On its way, the creek penetrates the arid and austere Book Cliffs, one of the largest de facto wilderness areas in the continental United States.

The Fremonts constructed rock-walled granaries for food storage as well. Many are still intact but are often tucked high into the canyon’s walls. You’ll have a field day if you pack along binoculars. Tread: Light duty, dirt road suitable for passenger cars when dry but may stymie even four wheel drive vehicles when wet."
