Tour de Suds

Tour de Suds Professional Review and Guide

"The Tour de Suds mountain-bike race is a long-standing Park City tradition dating back to 1983, when mountain bikes had fewer gears than fingers and toes and were nearly double the weight of today’s high-tech breeds. The Tour began as an impromptu year-end event when local road racers would hop on their ATBs or cyclo-cross bikes and spend the day competing on dirt trails rather than on paved roads.

The Tour de Suds overflows with Park City history, starting with a blend of nineteenth- and twentieth-century architectural themes that make up Historic Main Street. Farther on, the route passes the modernized Ontario Mine where, today, visitors can descend a mine shaft 1,500 feet and explore the old tunnels. On the route’s top half, you cross the ski slopes of Deer Valley Resort, which has contributed to Park City’s current boom."
