Waterfall Canyon

Waterfall Canyon Professional Review and Guide

"A beautiful hike, the Waterfall Canyon Trail follows a creek up a deep canyon to a breathtaking surprise. Area hikers love the steep, short trail, while trail runners and mountain bikers use the lower trail network, which connects the canyon with the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and other city trailheads."

The trail was not well marked and the actual 2.6 mile hike has been blocked off with rocks. We had to take another route that added atleast a mile of switchbacks. The waterfall is well worth the steepness at the end of the hike

I took my 8 & 5 yr old kids on this trail hike and loved it. The weather was perfect for mid-April and with spring runoff the waterfall flow was very nice with some snow at the base of the falls. We took the lower trail up to the falls and the "bench (higher)" trail out. The upper or bench trail is definitely nicer but would be very hot in the summer. With our changed route, it was about 3.75 miles according to GPS. The elevation gains are moderate to high. The map is a little deceiving on the rocks and elevation gain but great quick day hike trail.

Beautiful trail, especially in the fall (The waterfall was still amazing, although I suppose it would be quite a bit bigger in spring.) Probably one of the busiest trails in Ogden, for good reason. The trail involves a bit of clambering, which is probably a positive rather than a negative for most people on this site :-)

The waterfall at the end of the hike was awesome but an over crowded trail with lots of bikers coming down, children scattered throughout the steep rocky sections, and unleashed dogs made the hike much longer than it really should have been. Overall a good day in the sun.

This trail is a lot of fun. It starts out in the sun going along the foothills, but quickly winds into the canyon and becomes fairly steep and rocky. The scenery is magnificent and the waterfall at the end is simply amazing. I've done the loop from Waterfall up over Malan's peak before, and that is an awesome hike as well.

I teamed up with Weber Pathways for this hike. The weather was light rain and about 55*. There is good shade if you need. Definatly wear clothing that you can layer down because it will be a steep climb. I think hikking poles are nice to have because of all the rocks and creek crossings. Wear good shoes or your feet could get wet during this time of the year. In the end it is well worth it. I like the mist from the water fall. It cools you down quick. This trail can be done with little experience and equipment.

Steep climb, but the waterfall is worth it! There was still some snow at the base of the falls in April but it wasn't cold. A wonderful day hike.
