Mosquith Mountain WSA Trails Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Three main roads provide access to Moquith Mountain WSA, US 89 and Hancock Rd. to the northeast, and UT 237 on the west side. On some maps UT 237 is identified as Sand Dunes Rd. and the canyon it runs through is identified as Yellowjacket.

From Kanab, drive 7.25 miles northwest on US 89 to an unsigned intersection with Hancock Rd. Turn southwest on paved Hancock Rd. and drive about 6 miles to a Y intersection. At the intersection you can continue on Hancock to the Ponderosa Grove Campground (no water, no fees, BLM-maintained), or take the left fork onto Sand Spring Rd. The trailhead at Sand Spring is the access point for viewing a panel of rock art in the South Fork of Indian Canyon. This trail guide includes descriptions of Indian Canyon and South Fork Pictograph."

Beautiful scenery. The sand was quite soft and needed to put our vehicle in 4 wheel drive. The Indian Petroglyphs were very nice. The hike down to them is only 3/4 mile. The canyon is wonderful. If you don't like heights you might avoid this. The hike is all downhill and then uphill the way back.
