Scarecrow Peak Trail

Scarecrow Peak Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This easy trail links the lower end of the Burnt Canyon ATV trail system with Indian Spring Trail, passing through a remote, scenic area of the Mojave Desert as it does. The trail leaves from the small settlement of Motoqua; to get there, take Motoqua Road from Old US 91 in the Shivwits Indian Reservation. The trail immediately crosses Beaver Dam Wash, the lowest elevation in Utah, and climbs a ridge to the Nevada state line. The line is unmarked, except for a fence line, and the trail follows alongside it for nearly 3 miles, passing through large stands of mature Joshua trees.

Special Attractions: Joshua tree forests; Scarecrow Peak and Beaver Dam Wash; Views into two states—Utah and Nevada. High-clearance vehicles are preferred, but not necessary. This trail is dirt roads, but may have rocks, grades, water crossings, or ruts that make clearance a concern in a normal passenger vehicle. The trail is fairly wide, so that passing is possible at almost any point along the trail. Mud is not a concern under normal weather conditions."
