Old Blue Mountain Ski Resort Professional Review and Guide
"The Old Blue Mountain Ski Resort is exactly that—an abandoned ghost resort with lift shacks, cables, and a faded platter lift still intact. This tiny ski area shut down in the early ’80s because of a lack of snow. The few cut runs are now home to snowmobilers, families on sledding trips, and backcountry skiers. The slopes in and around the resort are some of the most accessible in the Abajo Mountains, which makes this a great spot for short half-day tours. Longer tours can also be linked to the upper reaches of Abajo Peak. The snow will probably be packed down from snowmobiles, so you can bang out the 1 mile of skinning with little issue. The road ends at what used to be the parking lot for the ski area. Here, you can check out the abandoned lift shack, towers, and surface lift that are frozen in time."
