Sevier Grunt Professional Review and Guide
"Getting bored with those wimpy rides where you bag only 2,000 or 3,000 feet of climbing? Then try this one, which gains almost a vertical mile over the course of approximately 15 miles—with more than half the elevation accrued in just 6 miles, between mile 2 and mile 8. The 31-mile point-to-point begins in the Sevier River Valley (Sevier is pronounced “severe,” and this ride certainly is). Technically it’s not bad, since you pedal on surfaces of pavement, graded gravel, and dirt; both scenically and aerobically, however, it’s a real killer.
Dropping out you don’t lose as much elevation as you gain going up, as Koosharem sits more than 1,000 feet higher than Monroe. Be aware that, unless your shuttle driver has high-clearance four-wheel-drive, he or she would be well advised not to follow the same route you’re taking. General location: The ride begins in the Sevier River Valley community of Monroe and ends in Koosharem, situated in the Grass Valley."
