Tower Arch Drive

Tower Arch Drive Professional Review and Guide

"This tour includes Klondike Bluffs, Marching Men, Tower and Eye of the Whale arches, as well as views of the La Sal Mountains. It’s best in spring and fall.

Below Salt Valley is a shifting salt bed thousands of feet thick, deposited by an evaporating sea 300 million years ago. Its movement has lifted and distorted the Jurassic Period (144–208 million years ago) salmon-hued Entrada Sandstone and buff-colored Navajo Sandstone deposited on top of it by floods, winds and oceans. That movement and erosion created the park’s famous arches.

Pets must be kept on leashes and are limited to the road corridor. No backcountry camping is permitted along the roads. If you explore on foot or bike, stick to slickrock and washes. Never step or ride on cryptobiotic crust, the fragile topsoil everywhere in canyon country. Vital to the ecology, it takes decades to recover."

This trail is better than expected!!! You definitely need clearance to get over some steep rock climbs and undulating rocky terrain..... Not the most intense trail you can do in moab, but good enough to have fun and not tear up you vehicle to bad.... The views are great and some great hiking trail off the way to get to some arches....
