Tower Arch

Tower Arch Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This moderately strenuous hike leads to Tower Arch, a spectacular formation nestled among the fractured rock of the Klondike Bluffs. Today, the Klondike Bluffs section of Arches National Park is a remote region rarely explored by most park visitors.

But for most of the past century, Klondike Bluffs was the first exposure many visitors had to Arches because the only vehicle access to the park before the 1960s was through the Salt Valley."

"This excellent backcountry hike leads you past pinnacles and through a maze of fins to a hidden arch in the remote Klondike Bluffs sector of Arches National Park. The Tower Arch Trail makes a great half-day hike to a remote arch in Klondike Bluffs, a maze of fins, buttresses, towers, and bluffs in the northwest corner of Arches National Park. After you’ve sampled the park’s easier classic hikes like Delicate Arch and Park Avenue, do Tower Arch Trail." Read more

"A moderate hike to one of the remotest arches in the park. Tower Arch is a short but rugged hike, or as indicated by the sign at the trailhead, a primitive trail, and the NPS considers it “strenuous.” To avoid an afternoon thunderstorm, which makes the Salt Valley Road impassable, start early." "A moderate hike to one of the most remote arches in the park. Tower Arch is a short but rugged hike, or as indicated by the sign at the trailhead, a primitive trail, and the NPS considers it “strenuous.” To avoid an afternoon thunderstorm, which makes the Salt Valley Road impassable, start early. The trail immediately starts to climb to the top of the bluff, up a steep but short incline. After this brief climb, the trail continues up and down until you see the massive Tower Arch surrounded by a maze of spectacular sandstone spires. Along the way, you get great views of the Marching Men rock formation on your left and the austere Klondike Bluffs on your right." Read more

A rugged short hike but well worth the effort of both the hike and the drive.
