Salt Valley Road

Salt Valley Road Professional Review and Guide

"This easy trail leads down a long pretty valley into the north end of Arches National Park. It is best suited for high-clearance vehicles, because of the long stretches of deep sand traps that can quickly bog down a regular vehicle. In wet weather this road quickly becomes impassable to even 4WD vehicles, and the National Park Service may close it temporarily in wet conditions.

Special Attractions: Alternative entrance to Arches National Park; Hiking trail to Tower Arch; Easy trail along a long and scenic valley. High-clearance vehicles are preferred, but not necessary. This trail is dirt roads, but may have rocks, grades, water crossings, or ruts that make clearance a concern in a normal passenger vehicle. The trail is fairly wide, so that passing is possible at almost any point along the trail. Mud is not a concern under normal weather conditions."
