Old Moab Highway

Old Moab Highway Professional Review and Guide

"Welcome to the easiest ride in Moab. The route is an out-and-back on the dirt road and deteriorating, old tow-lane highway that runs parallel to the US Route 191. Very hot in summer, it is still nice for early morning rides and possibly in the late evening. If you choose to ride to or from Moab on your bike, be very careful of the Colorado River Bridge and the windy cruise along the highway between the bridge and Arches National Park entrance.

Big trucks roll along this corridor and the bridge has no shoulder. It can be deadly. Time your crossing well. This ride goes up on worn, degraded pavement, then flattens and turns to dirt as you ride out to the Bar-M Chuckwagon and the spur left to Gemini Bridges trailhead. It may be considered boring, but for beginners and kids it may be just the ticket. Trail Surface: Old highway and dirt road. Broken pavement, hardpacked dirt, and gravel."
