Moab Rim

Moab Rim Professional Review and Guide

"The Moab Rim is the mother of all hill climbs. Sure, there are other ascents that are longer and gain ungodly amounts of elevation, but few are as merciless.

You start out in granny gear and never leave it. The jeep road rises 900 feet in about 0.8 mile—an average 21-percent grade. But the law of averages can be misleading. The lower third is somewhat tolerable and, no doubt, less than the average grade, which means the upper third seems near vertical. And all along the way, the fractured, ledgy Kayenta slickrock is technical as hell."

This is a challenging climb. I would recommend doing it as a hike, unless you are in great physical shape and possess great riding skills. Even then, I would only do it if you have already done most of the other rides in the area. But if you are looking for a fun hike, this is a fun one to do. The top of the climb is a great place to explore and experience great views.
