Miners Basin Trail

Miners Basin Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This short trail leaves La Sal Mountain Road and steadily switchbacks through pine and stands of aspen up to the hiking trailhead for Bachelors Basin and Miners Basin. The lower portions of the trail have spectacular views over Castle Valley. The second half of the trail crosses a couple of small talus slopes before finishing at a small reservoir at the hiking trailhead. From here, it is a gradual 0.75-mile hike to the cabins at Miners Basin.

Special Attractions: Access to Miners Basin hiking trails and cabins; Mountain vegetation and scenery, including aspen viewing in fall; Views over the Castle Valley. High-clearance vehicles are preferred, but not necessary. This trail is dirt roads, but may have rocks, grades, water crossings, or ruts that make clearance a concern in a normal passenger vehicle. The trail is fairly wide, so that passing is possible at almost any point along the trail. Mud is not a concern under normal weather conditions."
