Hidden Canyon Rim Trail

Hidden Canyon Rim Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This short trail travels out on the slickrock above a tributary of Hidden Canyon, swings around the head of the canyon, and drops down to end on a rock platform with a very pretty view. The first mile is easy going as you travel toward the edge of the first canyon; after that it is very slow going as you cross lumpy slickrock. Special Attractions: Moderate, rocky trail with extensive slickrock; Spectacular views into Hidden Canyon; Can be treated either as a spur trail or combined with Hidden Canyon Rim Escape Trail to exit up to Bartlett Rim.

High-clearance 4WDs are recommended, though most stock SUVs are acceptable. Expect a rough road surface with rocks larger than 6 inches, but there will be a reasonable driving line available. Patches of mud are possible but can be readily negotiated; sand may be deep and require lower tire pressures. There may be stream crossings up to 12 inches deep, substantial sections of single-lane shelf road, moderate grades, and sections of moderately loose road surface."
