Hart's Draw

Hart's Draw Professional Review and Guide

"This 17-mile out-and-back (8.5 miles each way) is a refreshingly easy ride in terms of both technical and aerobic difficulty. Still, several draw crossings over the second half of the ride do present a bit of a test of technical skills and leg strength. Riding surfaces include sand, both loose and hard-packed, and dirt double-track. It’s not a long ride, and the route is mellow enough that one could pull a trailer full of camping gear.

Some good dispersed campsites are found at the turnaround, with plenty of juniper and sage firewood nearby. Even if you don’t camp, the adventure is not necessarily over at the turnaround: Macomb Canyon and other irresistibly deep, colorful clefts in the plateau beg you to explore on foot. On the way back to the trailhead, you can’t miss the unmistakable profile of the Sixshooter Peaks pointing their barrels at the sky. General location: 65 miles southwest of Moab."
