Gooseberry Canyonlands National Park

Gooseberry: Canyonlands National Park Professional Review and Guide

"A tough day hike from the Island in the Sky to the White Rim
Road. When you look over the edge of Island in the Sky at the top of the Gooseberry Trail, you might think you forgot your parachute, because it looks like you’re getting ready to jump off a cliff. At this point it’s tempting to turn back, but you might be sorry if you do.

This is a great hike, perfect for the person who has been confined to a car for several days of sightseeing and now really needs some serious cardiovascular exercise. If you’re a nontechnical climber, you can also hike this trail and then tell everybody you climbed up to Island in the Sky—because that’s exactly what you do on this hike."

This trail will rival any Moab experience you might have had. Gooseberry Mesa is a network of many trails that takes you along the outer rim of the mesa. It combines single track dirt and slick rock winding through trees and desert landscape. This is not a trail for beginners and technical riding skills are a must have for all south sections of the trail. Easier riding can be had on the north end of the butte. Views are amazing and it is a great ride if you want to take a break from Zion's Ntl Park as it is with in an hours drive from Springdale.
