Book Cliffs Overlook Professional Review and Guide

"This trail is not maintained or marked and is only frequented by OHV supported rockhounds. These are trails that beg you to dismount, examine mineral deposits and vegetation, and take photographs of little things at your feet, like coyote and bobcat tracks or tiny flowers. Please try to stay on rock or in sandy washes to avoid crushing fragile desert vegetation under foot or wheel. Not many people know about this place, and now that you do, please be nice to it.

This area is like an open-air natural history museum, so taking a desert wildlife and / or geology handbook is recommended. This ride is truly for amateur photographers, geologists, desert lovers, and naturalists who just happen to ride a mountain bike - folks who consider the mountain bike a hiking accessory. If you are more interested in the places you go rather than the act of riding itself, then rides like this are for you. Trail surface: Loose rock and soft sediments, shale, slickrock, and hardpack on a 4WD doubletrack."
