Soldier Pass Trail

Soldier Pass Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This very pretty drive connects the towns of Milford and Beaver via the 7,388-foot Soldier Pass, which winds through a gap in the Mineral Mountains, a range that is 28 miles long and averages 5 miles wide. Its major peak is Granite Peak (9,578 feet) in the center of the range.

The Mineral Mountains also contain deposits of obsidian, a dark natural glass formed from cooling lava; the Indians of southwestern Utah used obsidian as an important trade item. Special Attractions: Easy scenic pass through the Mineral Mountains; Access to rockhounding areas; Granite Peak. This trail is graded dirt but suitable for a normal passenger vehicle. It usually has gentle grades, is fairly wide, and has very shallow water crossings (if any)."
