Deep Creek Campground Professional Review and Guide
"Aspen and Engelmann spruce form a patchwork of tree cover, while the waters of Deep Creek and frequent afternoon rainstorms provide plenty of precipitation for prolific brush, especially at the creek’s edges. Be conscientious of the riparian habitat and the deadfall in the creek. Campers seeking firewood gutted the creek over time and unwittingly compromised much of the fish habitat, so the U.S. Forest Service placed logs and other deadfall back into the river to help restore it to health.
In fact, if there’s one complaint to make Deep Creek, it’s the obvious mistreatment it’s had from campers over the years. A campground can’t help but show wear, but it shouldn’t have tear. Indeed, this campground is well used and will probably fill right up on the weekends, but its out-of-the-way location should only heighten the concern and care for such a nifty little place. Hopefully this renewed attention to the creek will help campers contemplate how special the campground really is."
