Lodge Campground Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"The campground is laid out in a typical loop: sites 1–4 on the stem, 5–10 on the bend. Site 7 may have a slight edge over the others when it comes to privacy and spaciousness, but that’s nitpicking, really: there’s not a bad site in the bunch. In contrast to the bigger campgrounds on the main highway, you’ll find abundant peace and quiet at Lodge. Not only are you off the main road, but Lodge also remains somewhat undiscovered, or at least unfavored. The only exception to peace and quiet would be traffic coming to and from Camp LoMia, a privately owned youth camp just a few hundred yards away.
You may catch a drop-off or pick-up day and have plenty of company, but don’t fret: the commotion is only temporary, and peace and quiet return in short order. Shade abounds in and around the campground—a good thing, because at just shy of 5,500 feet, Lodge doesn’t cool down as quickly as camps farther up the canyon."
