Beaver Creek - Sink Hollow

Beaver Creek - Sink Hollow Professional Review and Guide

"Spanning the Utah/Idaho border, the Sink Hollow loop passes through the rolling backcountry of the Bear River Range. The first half of the loop follows glistening Beaver Creek as it tumbles down a narrow valley filled with willows, sage, and wildflowers. Its course is impeded frequently by shallow ponds that pool up behind beaver dams.

On the loop’s “back nine” you follow the Great Western Trail as it leaves Idaho and enters Utah on its 3,000-mile course from Canada to Mexico. A spur road leads to the Pat Hollow Memorial where a C-46 transport plane crashed in 1953, killing its civilian crew and 37 military passengers. Tread: 6.5 miles of light-duty dirt road followed by 1.5 miles of doubletrack. Sink Hollow Trail begins as an ATV trail, narrows to singletrack, reverts to an ATV trail, and then culminates as doubletrack studded with rocks."
