Elkhorn Campground Professional Review and Guide

"No one visits Elkhorn by accident. The dirt road to the campground is accessed from a seldom-used stretch of highway and winds continually as it climbs 9 intimidating miles through the trees and passes by deep blue ponds characteristic of the rarely discussed Thousand Lake Mountain. It’s remote and it’s isolated. In other words, it’s almost perfect.

Elkhorn is the only established campground on Thousand Lake. The campsites here sit at almost 10,000 feet in altitude in a needle-shaped configuration. Surprisingly, water is available at this campground from several spigots in the camp, and the restrooms have been redone to accommodate campers with disabilities."
