Yellow Pine Creek

Yellow Pine Creek Professional Review and Guide

"The upper sections of the Yellow Pine Creek Trail pass through a steep-walled valley subject to avalanches. This hike combines sections of the Slate Canyon Trail and lower Yellow Pine Creek Trails with an off-trail route over the less steeply sloped ridge that separates the two canyons. Because this is an off-trail route, we recommend that you take the USGS map. The top of the ridge is serene.

The deep snow here makes for a white-powder wonderland where few ever venture, especially in winter. Many pines and aspens grace both the slopes and ridge tops. Although the main road is only a mile and a half south, you’ll feel as if you’ve come upon a completely undiscovered spot."
