Wolf Creek Peak

Wolf Creek Peak Professional Review and Guide

"Wolf Creek Peak is an evergreen-covered high point that rises above Wolf Creek Pass
on State Route 35. It may not look like much, but what it lacks in stature, it makes up
for in excellent Uinta Mountain views and low-angle tree skiing that’s easy and quick
to get to. Mellow terrain and snow-covered summer roads make Wolf Creek Peak
an ideal place for backcountry beginners to learn skinning technique or for anyone
seeking a quick morning lap in the glades. Experienced ski-touring parties with skins can shortcut the road for a tour that’s half the distance. Just before the major switchback 0.3 mile from the highway, leave the road and keep going south straight up the mountainside. You’ll skin through an evergreen forest that can be thick at times. Climb 0.2 mile and 200 vertical feet to the summit ridge, then go east, following the ridge an additional 0.4 mile to the summit."
