Long Pond Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Long Pond is just that—a long pond. It is immediately below the outlet of Long Lake. It is not a long hike, nor is it a long story to fill you in why we’ve included Long Pond in this book. While the lake receives heavy usage, Long Pond is largely ignored, even though it has better fishing and more solitude than the lake.
This place is fun to fi sh. Long Pond has a variety of trout habitat to test your angling skills. Shallows, pools, rocks, and a few deadfalls combine to give you an array of fishing challenges. Expect the unexpected when exploring Long Pond. The trout you’ll likely catch offer variety too. Count on a mixed bag of cutthroat and brook trout, which migrate from Long Lake. Since it has no water flow in winter, Long Pond is not stocked. But enough trout from Long Lake sneak into the pond to make fishing exciting."
