Snow Canyon State Park Campground

Snow Canyon State Park Campground Professional Review and Guide

"In a state where there are sometimes only two seasons—winter and August—Snow Canyon State Park is a little piece of heaven. When the winter blues become insufferable, book a site and get camping! Less than 15 miles from the Arizona border, Snow Canyon encompasses just more than 5,700 acres of dramatic rolling canyons, which can vary in color from very deep, dark reds, to hues of tan, gold, and even white.

Crowning large areas of this colored Navajo sandstone are large, twisted veins of black lava rock formed by three separate episodes of ancient volcanic activity. In spite of its name, Snow Canyon rarely sees any snow, so it’s an ideal place to go when other campgrounds are snowed in or just too cold. Temperatures can dip at night during the colder months, but it’s the daytime weather that attracts the crowds."
