Gooseberry Cruiser

Gooseberry Cruiser Professional Review and Guide

"This ten-mile out-and-back (five miles each way) begins not far from Zion National Park, where everything—even the roadway—turns red. On the ride, rated both technically and aerobically easy, you’ll earn startling views of the brilliance of Zion, as well as of the more subdued hues of the Pine Valley Mountains rising in the northwest, and, at the turnaround, a sublime look down on the Virgin River basin.

The nearby town of Springdale, tucked between Zion and Rockville, is mighty fancy, with lots of restaurants and lavish accommodations—even an IMAX theater. Rockville, where you leave the highway, is a well-shaded, quieter, and somehow more dignified town. It was originally settled in the early 1860s, with early settlers raising cotton and sugarcane. Look around town and you’ll discover some structures that verge on ancient. General location: Just southwest of Zion National Park."
