North Wash to Butler Canyon

North Wash to Butler Canyon Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Combined with Marinus Canyon and nearby Stair Canyon, Butler Canyon completes the trio of major North Wash tributary canyons that offer excellent day-hiking opportunities along UT 95 between Hanksville and Lake Powell. Of the three canyons, Butler is wettest, supporting occasional ribbons of rich riparian growth.

The hiking here is occasionally challenging, though seldom difficult. The highlight of the hike is an opportunity to scramble out of the gorge for a tremendous vista of the Henry Mountains, with a striking array of Navajo Sandstone domes rising in the foreground."
