Butterfly Lake Campground Professional Review and Guide
"If hiking is on your agenda, then this campground makes an excellent point for launching off. For an easy, family-friendly hike, make your way to the Ruth Lake Trailhead about a mile farther down UT 150. The 1.5-mile round-trip trail is well marked and gains only 200 feet in elevation. Fishing and exploring are popular pastimes here.
If you want more of a challenge than Ruth Lake has to offer, make your way 8.5 miles back on UT 150 to the Crystal Lake Trailhead, just beyond the tightly packed RVs common at the Washington Lake Campground. Once at the Crystal Lake Trailhead, park and pick your poison. This trailhead hosts three separate hikes. For scenery, go with the hike to Island Lake along the Smith–Morehouse Trail. It’s 3.5 miles each way and passes several lakes, meadows, and mountain views."
