Mount Marsell

Mount Marsell Professional Review and Guide

"Mount Marsell just can’t get any love. Despite the fact that, at over 11,000 feet, it proudly stands alongside some of the larger peaks in the area. But skiers and even summer hikers eschew Marsell for sexier-looking mountains along the Mirror Lake Highway. What Marsell’s humped summit lacks in picturesque quality, it makes up for with steep skiing on her east face and an approach route via Kamas Lake that’s more scenic than any other in the Uinta Mountains. In addition, two lesser summits to the south that surround Lofty Lake (Point 11158 and Point 11113) have good skiing and snowboarding above Camp Steiner Boy Scout camp and Scout Lake. But get here as
soon as the highway opens around Memorial Day weekend because Marsell’s rocky slopes melt out fast."
