Rods Valley Trail

Rods Valley Trail Professional Review and Guide

"From Swasey’s Cabin Trail, Rods Valley Trail heads south through grassland and sagebrush with some scattered pinyon and juniper. The trail crosses a number of washes and passes through a dense area of pinyon and juniper as an interesting mix of red- and buff-colored cliffs rise up on either side.

Special Attractions: Provides an alternative route to connect through to Reds Canyon Trail; Numerous backcountry camping sites. High-clearance 4WDs are preferred, but any high-clearance vehicle is acceptable. Expect a rough road surface; mud and sand are possible but will be easily passable. You may encounter rocks up to 6 inches in diameter, a loose road surface, and shelf roads, though these will be wide enough for passing or will have adequate pull-offs."
