Reds Canyon Overlook Trail

Reds Canyon Overlook Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This short loop trail includes a spur trail to an overlook high above Reds Canyon to the south. It makes an interesting side trip to Kimball Draw Trail. The trail crosses Link Flats on an ungraded two-track before swinging around and climbing to the overlook. The trail is not difficult, but there are a couple of narrow gullies that may catch the rear of longer vehicles or those with less clearance.

The climb to the overlook is a little loose, but any driver who is confident navigating the Kimball Draw Trail will have no problems on this one. Those driving wider vehicles may find that a couple of sections may be a little brushy. Special Attractions: Panoramic viewpoint over Reds Canyon; Access to backcountry campsites on Link Flats. High-clearance 4WDs are preferred, but any high-clearance vehicle is acceptable. Expect a rough road surface; mud and sand are possible but will be easily passable. You may encounter rocks up to 6 inches in diameter, a loose road surface, and shelf roads, though these will be wide enough for passing or will have adequate pull-offs."
