Lower Muddy Creek Gulch

Lower Muddy Creek Gulch Professional Review and Guide

"This hike consists of a stroll down a high-walled gorge, some 800 to 1000 feet deep, formed by Muddy Creek. The creek meanders across the 0.25 mile wide gorge the entire 4-mile length, so you’ll get your feet wet in the ankle-deep water.

Other than the 100-foot drop from the airstrip down to creek level, the hike is remarkably flat, making it easy and a good introduction to the San Rafael Swell for hikers of any age or skill level. The beautiful, high canyon walls seem to glow in the early morning or evening sunlight."

this is a good hike for a hot day. not strenuous but you need proper footware as you will be in the creek most of the way. a long drive to get there and a bad first mile but it is a joy once you get into the water
