Levi Well Trail Professional Review and Guide
"The difficulty with this trail is the loose, deep sand along most of its length, particularly the last 3 miles around Tenmile Canyon. The trail slants away from Blue Hills Road. The first section runs through the Blue Hills, close to the upper end of Tenmile Wash. This section can be extremely boggy when wet, as the remaining ruts testify. The trail passes out of the low Blue Hills and passes by Levi Well itself, which is just off the trail in a thicket of tamarisk. This is a free-flowing well that feeds a cattletank.
Special Attractions: Beautiful Tenmile Canyon; Entrada buttes and the Blue Hills; Photo opportunities in the sand dunes. High-clearance 4WDs are recommended, though most stock SUVs are acceptable. Expect a rough road surface with rocks larger than 6 inches, but there will be a reasonable driving line available. Patches of mud are possible but can be readily negotiated; sand may be deep and require lower tire pressures. There may be stream crossings up to 12 inches deep, substantial sections of single-lane shelf road, moderate grades, and sections of moderately loose road surface."
