Copper Globe Mine Trail

Copper Globe Mine Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Starting out from I-70, the trail runs through a sandy plateau with an abundance of side tracks and campsites. The yellow or buff-colored sands of Justensen Flats are the same color as the cliffs rising above them. As you drive through the thick pinyon and juniper, just past a sign for Copper Globe, you can see the San Rafael Knob about 3 miles southeast of Justensen Flats.

Special Attractions: Many artifacts remain at the Copper Globe Mine; The area is home to a herd of wild mustangs; Varied and scenic terrain; The Sheepherder’s End marker. High-clearance 4WDs are preferred, but any high-clearance vehicle is acceptable. Expect a rough road surface; mud and sand are possible but will be easily passable. You may encounter rocks up to 6 inches in diameter, a loose road surface, and shelf roads, though these will be wide enough for passing or will have adequate pull-offs."
