Pony Express Trail

Pony Express Trail Professional Review and Guide

"To get to the start of the Pony Express Trail, take I-80 to Wendover, then turn onto Alt US 93 south for about 24 miles (crossing into Nevada) until it intersects with a paved road to Ibapah. Turn left here and drive 15.2 miles until you come to the intersection with the unpaved Gold Hill Road.

Special Attractions: Historic route used by the Pony Express and Overland Stage; Extremely remote but easy route through desert terrain that has scarcely changed from the days of the Pony Express; Desert scenery reflecting the impact of the ancient Great Salt Lake; Rockhounding for geodes. This trail is graded dirt but suitable for a normal passenger vehicle. It usually has gentle grades, is fairly wide, and has very shallow water crossings (if any)."
