Logan Canyon / Bear Lake Drive From Logan to Bear Lake

Logan Canyon / Bear Lake Drive: From Logan to Bear Lake Professional Review and Guide

"A 55-mile canyon and alpine drive from Logan to scenic Bear Lake. This drive combines two designated scenic byways in a single excursion. The entire drive can be completed (one-way) in just an hour and a half, though more time is recommended for stops and sidetrips in the car or on foot. The Logan Canyon Scenic Byway runs east from the backyard of Utah State University in Logan, up the narrow gorge of Logan Canyon, and over the Bear River Mountains to the resort town of Garden City on the banks of scenic Bear Lake. This 40-mile alpine/canyon drive passes beneath imposing limestone cliffs carved by the Logan River and through lush green forest on its 3,000-foot climb to Bear Lake Summit.

A second designated scenic byway continues for 15 miles from Garden City to Laketown, at the southern end of the lake. Special attractions: Wasatch-Cache National Forest, dramatic canyon scenery, Jardine Juniper, Rick’s Spring, Bear Lake, rock climbing, and raspberry milkshakes. Nearby attractions: Mount Naomi Wilderness Area, Old Ephraim’s Grave, and Hardware Ranch Scenic Backway. This eTrail is a complete description of a scenic drive with a route map and information on the best travel seasons, interesting sites, recreation opportunities, camping locations, and much more."
