Gooseberry-Fremont Road

Gooseberry-Fremont Road Professional Review and Guide

"This long trail through Fishlake National Forest is a pleasant drive, and in dry weather, it is traversable by passenger vehicles. The first 12.6 miles are paved, as are the last 4.4 miles, and the rest of the trail is a good graded gravel road. It is common to see wildlife on this trail, including mule deer at all times of day.

There are also large herds of elk and a herd of moose in Fishlake Basin. Other animals to watch out for include coyotes, ground squirrels, and the less-appealing skunks and rattlesnakes. Special Attractions: Long, easy trail for scenic touring; Access to a network of 4WD, ATV, and hiking trails; Fishing and camping opportunities, both developed and primitive. This trail is graded dirt but suitable for a normal passenger vehicle. It usually has gentle grades, is fairly wide, and has very shallow water crossings (if any)."
