Huntington Canyon / Eccles Canyon Scenic Byways: Huntington to Fairview and Scofield Professional Review and Guide
"A traverse of the alpine terrain of the Wasatch Plateau. The Wasatch Plateau is one of the most important geographical features of central Utah, marking the division between the vast Colorado Plateau and the Great Basin. This drive combines the Huntington Canyon and Eccles Canyon scenic byways and provides an excellent introduction to the spectacular high country of the Wasatch Plateau. The length of your drive will vary from 55-75 miles, depending on which options you choose. The route is paved, two-lane highway, suitable for all vehicles, with generally light traffic on both branches of the drive except during hunting season. Expect icy roads and even temporary snow closures in winter; snow tires or chains are required October 1-April 30.
Special attractions: Beautiful alpine driving, access to backcountry drives and hiking, quaint Fairview, and historic Scofield mining town. Nearby attractions: Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry and Scenic Backway, Skyline Drive Scenic Backway, attractive old Sanpete towns along U.S. Highway 89, and Manti Temple. This eTrail is a complete description of a scenic drive with a route map and information on the best travel seasons, interesting sites, recreation opportunities, camping locations, and much more."
