Cottonwood Canyon Trail

Cottonwood Canyon Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Cottonwood Canyon Trail turns off of Northern #15: Nine Mile Canyon Trail and heads south through a deep, narrow canyon. In many ways, this short spur trail—with its many cottonwoods and some of the best pictographs in the region— is even more interesting than Nine Mile Canyon. The pictographs include a detailed hunting scene from the days of the Fremont Indians.

Special Attractions: Fremont Indian pictographs; Good view of Fremont granaries; Scenic canyon with high walls and cottonwoods along wash; Access to two spur trails onto West Tavaputs Plateau. High-clearance vehicles are preferred, but not necessary. This trail is dirt roads, but may have rocks, grades, water crossings, or ruts that make clearance a concern in a normal passenger vehicle. The trail is fairly wide, so that passing is possible at almost any point along the trail. Mud is not a concern under normal weather conditions."
