Lily Lake Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"A short but strenuous day hike can put you at beautiful Lily Lake, surrounded by pines and quaking aspens that hiss in the breeze. The lake is clear and deep except for the southern end, where numerous aquatic plants grow in the shallows. If Swift Creek Campground is your base camp, Lily Lake is an excellent place to escape the crowds and find some peace and quiet.
A good trail will lead you safely up the mountainside northeast to Lily Lake. It is quite steep—you’ll pick up more than 1,200 feet of elevation in just 1.0 mile. It may seem farther than a mile. Mountain miles usually do. But don’t give up; you should complete the trek in about 30 to 45 minutes. The walk back down should be a lot quicker. Anglers like to venture to Lily Lake in hopes of finding faster fishing than near the campgrounds. This may or may not happen. Lily Lake is stocked with brook trout, but stocking schedules, angling pressure, and the mood of the fi sh will determine your fishing luck. Try to be at the lake in early morning or late evening."
