Indian Canyon / Nine-Mile Canyon Loop: Duchesne to Price and north to Myton Professional Review and Guide
"A highly diverse drive combining lovely forested canyons, the traverse of old Indian and settler trails, and many cultural and historical attractions. The two travel corridors described by this drive were the two early ways in and out of the remote Uinta Basin region. Until the mid 1880s the only way into the basin was on horseback. The old stage road, which followed an ancient Indian trail through Nine-Mile Canyon and over the ridge into the Duchesne River Valley, was instrumental in the development of the basin by connecting the established railroad community of Price with the frontier military post at Fort Duchesne.
Special attractions: Ashley National Forest, Indian Canyon, historic attractions and museums in Helper and Price, Nine-Mile Canyon, and rock art sites. Nearby attractions: Reservation Ridge Scenic Backway. This eTrail is a complete description of a scenic drive with a route map and information on the best travel seasons, interesting sites, recreation opportunities, camping locations, and much more."
