House Range Drive Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Marjum and Dome (or Death) Canyons are spectacular, with high rock walls. The 4,000-foot-plus west side of 9,655-foot Notch Peak has a sheer, roughly 2,000-foot cliff.
Top-of-the-world views are found at the Sinbad Overlook and, for hikers, the summits of Notch and Swasey peaks. (Bristlecone pines, among the oldest living things on Earth, grow on both.) The range is noted for fossils of trilobites, primitive hard-shelled marine invertebrates that were extinct before dinosaurs existed. Recreational collecting is allowed. Spring and fall are the best times to visit."
